Why May Matters: How The Neighborhood Christian Clinic Delivers Year-Round Health and Hope

May Is Health Awareness Month—But We’ve Been Living It All Year

If you’ve ever wondered whether May is the month to care about your health, we’ve got the answer: Yes. Absolutely. Unequivocally. It’s practically required.

Because in May…
Every day is a health awareness day.

Don’t believe us?

From World Asthma Day (May 6) to No Tobacco Day (May 31), and from Mental Health Awareness Month to National Nurses Week, this is the month where nearly every part of the body, mind, and spirit gets a moment in the spotlight.

But at The Neighborhood Christian Clinic, every month is awareness month—because every patient matters.

Whether it’s a mom struggling with high blood pressure and trying to afford groceries, or a hard-working dad who hasn’t had a dental checkup in years…

A young woman newly diagnosed with lupus, or an elderly patient with vision loss, anxiety, and nowhere else to turn…

We don’t wait for a ribbon to tell us it’s time to care.
We just… care. Year-round. Compassionately. Prayerfully.

A Few Ways the Clinic Lives Out May’s Mission:

  • Mental Health Awareness Month: We provide integrated behavioral health care—meeting patients where they are with compassion and dignity.

  • National Women’s Health Week (May 12–18): We offer ongoing support for uninsured women navigating everything from diabetes to difficult pregnancies.

  • National Nurses Week (May 6–12): Our volunteers and staff nurses are everyday heroes. May is their month—but we’re thankful for them every single day.

  • Stroke, Skin Cancer, and Hypertension Awareness: Whether it’s prevention, early detection, or ongoing treatment, we are our patients’ medical home.

  • Hepatitis Testing Day (May 19): Prevention and screening save lives—and we help patients get the care they need, even if they can’t afford it.

What We Really Celebrate in May

Every story that walks through our doors.
Every prayer said during a checkup.
Every diagnosis treated with dignity and love.
Every volunteer who gives. Every donor who believes. Every life that is touched.

Because for 26 years, we’ve been doing more than medicine. We’ve been offering hope.

And that?
That’s worth celebrating—this month and every month.
