Alejandro’s Journey to Walking in Confidence and Closer to God

When Alejandro was a boy, his family noticed his foot twisting and deforming. By adulthood, walking was painful. Doctors warned him that one day he might not be able to walk at all.

In California, where he lived at the time, the only option was repeated casts that never fixed the problem. Surgery was out of reach—he had no insurance.

Then his aunt told him about her local clinic that cared for the poor: the Neighborhood Christian Clinic.

Here at the Clinic, Alejandro found compassionate doctors, volunteer specialists, and the generosity of friends like you who made a way forward. Within a month, he underwent reconstructive surgery—bones broken and reset, his ankle realigned—and with therapy, he regained strength and mobility.

Today, Alejandro is not only walking—he is walking in confidence. He no longer hides. He enjoys life with his family. And most of all:

“Thanks to the clinic, Alejandro walks! And he walks with more confidence—and he walks with God. ‘I am closer to God now,’ says Alejandro.”

Alejandro’s story is a living testimony of Luke 7:22: “The lame walk … and the Good News is proclaimed to the poor.”
