The Beauty of a Surrendered Seed

May 6, 2026 | Featured Story

This Mother’s Day, we honor the quiet strength, sacrifice, and unwavering love of mothers and mother figures.

When Sabrina came to the Neighborhood Christian Clinic as a dental hygienist, the very first patient she served asked for prayer to regain custody of her children.

As the patient shared her heart, Sabrina immediately understood the weight of that request.

Years earlier, Sabrina had walked through her own season of surrender after making the difficult decision to remove herself and her daughter from an unhealthy situation. In the painful aftermath, she experienced the heartbreak of losing custody of her young daughter. In her brokenness, she cried out to God and learned over time that surrender was not about striving, but trusting.

For Sabrina, that moment with her very first NCC patient was a holy affirmation. God had not only restored her, He had placed her at the Clinic so that her own surrendered story could become comfort, prayer, and hope for someone else.

In John 12:23–24, we are reminded that a seed must fall into the ground and die before it can produce much fruit. Motherhood reflects this sacred truth in profound ways.

Every act of selflessness… every prayer whispered in the night… every tear sown in faith… is not unseen by God.

For seven years, Sabrina prayed, fasted, and placed her daughter into God’s hands daily. What felt like loss became a season of refinement. And in God’s perfect timing, restoration came.

The patient Sabrina prayed with, Adriana, was also walking through a painful season.

At that time in my life I was going through a very difficult situation,” Adriana shared. “I knew of God, but I doubted Him. I didn’t have a real relationship with Him. I felt desperate, helpless, and alone, so I cried out to God for help.”

She remembers asking God to prove He was really there.

Then something unexpected happened.

Every person who came into my life was a believer,” she said. “They prayed with me and over me, and for my children. It was so emotional for me because I knew it wasn’t a coincidence. It was God showing me He had been right there with me all along.”

So when Sabrina prayed with Adriana, she was not speaking from theory. She was praying from a place of deep surrender.

Sabrina made a lasting memory,” Adriana said. “She is a true prayer warrior. Her prayers were unforgettable and impactful.”

Months later, Adriana returned to the Clinic and was overwhelmed to learn Sabrina had continued praying for her long after the appointment had ended.

My prayers were answered, and I truly believe it was through the power of prayer,” Adriana shared. “After that, everything changed.”

Today, Adriana says she has fully surrendered her life to the Lord, been baptized, and now serves alongside her family at church. Her children witnessed that transformation firsthand, and she says her faith continues to grow stronger every day.

What God does through our surrender is never just for us. It becomes a testimony for others.

At the Clinic, we often see moments like these, where physical care and spiritual care come together, and where God uses even the most painful seasons to bring hope and healing to others.

Their story is a testimony to Romans 12:12: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

To the mothers who are waiting, praying, and trusting through difficult seasons, your surrender is not in vain. What feels like loss, stretching, or even breaking is often the very ground where God is preparing to bring forth life, healing, and legacy.

Just as Jesus revealed glory through surrender, your daily “yes” to God, often hidden and sacrificial, is producing fruit that will outlive you.

Be encouraged: What you place in God’s hands will never remain buried.

Your love is shaping generations. Your faith is planting seeds of destiny. And your surrender is becoming a testimony of God’s glory.

This Mother’s Day, may you be reminded: God sees you. God is with you. And God will bring forth beautiful fruit from every seed you’ve sown in faith.
