Last Sunday’s Jazz for the Soul concert at Heritage Presbyterian Church (Glendale) was a gift—warm room, soulful sound, and a shared purpose. With the Neighborhood Christian Clinic as the evening’s beneficiary, every note helped underwrite whole-person care for uninsured and underserved neighbors. Thank you to everyone who came, clapped, and gave.
Missed it? Your encore is coming up.
Don’t fret if you couldn’t make the West-side show. The Sugar Thieves return for an East-side set at Ravenscroft’s Jazzbird:

What is Jazz for the Soul?
One of Arizona’s longest-running concert series, Jazz for the Soul offers free, twice-monthly shows from September through June—2nd Sundays on the West side (Heritage Presbyterian Church) and 4th Sundays on the East side (Ravenscroft/Jazzbird). The atmosphere is welcoming and lively, bringing world-class musicians and local causes together.
Concerts like Jazz for the Soul do double duty: you enjoy remarkable music, and your presence helps provide medical, dental, and integrated behavioral health at the Neighborhood Christian Clinic—care offered with compassion and dignity, and prayer when welcomed.

Spotlight: The Sugar Thieves
Since 2006, The Sugar Thieves have been winning fans worldwide with high-energy, soulful live shows. Their sound—American roots music—moves freely through blues, country, folk, gospel, rock and roll, and elements of jazz, honoring the traditions that make American music move. They’ve toured the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, sharing bills with Taj Mahal, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, The Flaming Lips, The Blues Brothers, Lucinda Williams, Robert Cray, and more.
They’ve released five albums of originals and re-imagined classics, and their rendition of “Santa Baby” appeared on Putumayo’s Acoustic Christmas (2013).
Lineup & roots: The band began as the duo of Meridith Moore (deep, colorful vocals) and Mikel Lander (gritty guitar and vocals). Today they’re joined by Todd Chuba (drums), Shea Marshall (keys/sax/harmonica and more), and Jeff Naylor (upright/electric bass, backing vocals)—a powerhouse rhythm section that makes their live set unforgettable.
